-horrors to horrors.-
Reading through the sunday papers, i found a article about a boy in singapore being tortured to death. Can you imagine that a boy, no older than 8 years, was slowly being tortured to death by his mother's boyfriend. The reason that the boyfriend gave was that the boy had to be cured of some kind of disease. And that meant having to beat, kick, bite and using cigarette to burn the boy. What is more shocking is that his own mother, who is supposed to protect him, protected her boyfriend instead. she said that the bruises on his leg were due to his fall from in-line skating and the burn marks on his body were due to mosquitoe bites. Are there actually mothers like that in the wrold that would rather see her own child suffer? the article reported that the mother had low IQ. But surely being a mother, and seeing her child suffer like that she would have protected him. isn't that what all mothers would do if their own child is being harmed? The boy's body was left at the morgue for two months because the family did not have money to give the boy a proper funeral. Also because the boy's mother is in jail.
With such things happening in our own country, one does not have to look at other countries to find some kind of barbaric act committed by people. What has the world come to? Have humans evolved to such a stage that we have become devoid of feelings? Are humans, thought to be the most intelligent beings on earth, still humane? Sometimes you really wonder at the kind of cruel acts that other humans would inflict on a fellow human being. This kind of torment started in historic times.
When Jesus was crucified on the cross, there were many others before him that went through the same kind of torture. Crucification was a kind of death penalty that criminals were being put through. The pain of nails being hammered into your hands is definitely not bearable for any human. No matter how strong you may be.
The kind of punishments that we humans mete out are, although less cruel now, still equally horrifying. Take for example the beheading of the american by the iraqis. The senseless act of taking revenge is totally uncalled for. True-the americans may have been cruel to torment the prisoners that way-but by using that kind of punishment how different are you they from the americans? And the person was only an innocent with nothing to do with the government's decision to wage this senseless war. Sometimes i really feel that government have no brains. For no good reason, they go wage a war with some country. This act would only cause their people to suffer.
