-You'll Get Over It-
"'You'll get over it...' its the cliches that cause the trouble. To lose someone you love is to alter your life for ever. You don't get over it because 'it' is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve over is not made anodyne by death."
- Written On The Body by Jeanette Winterson.
Made me realise that its alright to to say that the wound is there and will always be.
I have moved on. I really have, if not i would not be in Brisbane right now. But its the occassional memory surge that causes the occassional breakdown.
Memories are a terrible thing to have when all you want to do is to forget. But at the same time, its these memories that teach us a thing or two. Its these memories that makes us who we are. Without memories, the human body is just an empty shell.
So everytime i'm overwhelmed by a surge of emotions, i'll remember the excerpt and know, that's its alright to admit, that "the gap never closes".
Thank you. You really helped. :)
